WEGEN KRANKHEIT ABGESAGT
Since the introduction of digital cameras, analog photography had been on a steep decline. And then came Instagram. Instead of putting the last nail in the coffin of film, turning everyone to mobile photography, it unexpectedly did the total opposite: gave a platform to thousands of film photographers to find each other’s work, interact, form communities and fuel artistic development. Lina Bessonova was one of those “new wave” film shooters: coming from a digital background and starting her darkroom exploration around 2010 in Geneva, she felt quite alone in her passion and even considered quitting in favour of a more “real” job. And yet, with Youtube and Instagram, she found immense support. Now, over a decade later, analog photography is taking up her entire life, from shooting big projects on film to doing workshops all over Europe - all that, diligently documented and shared on social media to thousands of followers.
In her talk at the DIGITALEVENT, Lina will reflect on her journey, while touching the subjects of analog VS digital photography, the challenges of sharing the analog photo work through digital means and growing the analog community.
